Newsletter of the European Coalition for Community Living

The first issue of ECCL’s Newsletter coming out in June 2006

One of the regular activities of the European Coalition for Community Living will be the publishing of a quarterly Newsletter focused on de-institutionalisation and community-based services for people with disabilities in Europe. The Newsletter will be distributed widely to ECCL's members, contacts, as well other target groups - disability and human rights organisations, service providers and policy makers across Europe.

The Newsletter of the European Coalition for Community Living will aim to:

  • raise awareness about the importance of de-institutionalisation and community-based services;
  • inform members and the public about new developments in Europe (in both policy and practice), that are relevant to deinstitutionalisation and the development and provision of community-based services;
  • publicise ECCL's activities and provide an update of ECCL's members;
  • give ECCL members the opportunity to publicise their projects, events, successes etc.;
  • discuss issues related to de-institutionalisation through publishing of articles and report summaries.

In the first issue of the Newsletter you will find an editorial written by Gerard Quinn, a report from the Right to Live in the Community Seminar and an update about ECCL's activities and members.

If your organisation has an announcement or other information related to de-institutionalisation or community-based services that you would like us to include in the future issues of the Newsletter, please send it to the ECCL Coordinator.
