CALL FOR ACTION: Public Hearing on Future Anti-discrimination Legislation

Event Date: Wednesday, May 14, 2008

The Disability Intergroup in cooperation with the European Disability Forum is organising a Public Hearing on "Future anti-discrimination legislation: what are the specificities of the ‘disability' ground?". The hearing will take place on 14 May 2008 from 13h30-15h30 at the European Parliament, room P4B001. Interpretation will be provided in English and French.

To attend, please send a confirmation to the European Disability Forum, contact person [email protected] . Should you need a visitors' pass please include your name, date of birth and place of residence.

Please also contact your Member(s) of the European Parliament in order to ask them to participate in the event and to explain to them the importance that the proposed new legislation has for your organisation. Even though the Parliament is not a major player in the concrete negotiation of the proposed Disability Specific Directive (since it just expresses its opinion), it has a strong symbolic value to have its full support on the negotiations. Furthermore representatives of all EU member States have been invited, and several have already confirmed their participation.
